Wilmslow Half Marathon 2008

Today was the day... conditions were perfect, it's a shame I wasn't! I went to a friends 30th Birthday party on Friday night and spent all of yesterday with a HUGE hangover. Still didn't feel good when lining up for the race this morning. Having said that... I was only 2mins slower than my PB which I ran earlier in the month at Liverpool. I'm convinced I would have hit another PB if I had prepared properly.

It was a nice race to run, very rural... lot's of winding country lanes, the race itself was a little congested to start with, Wilmslow is more popular than I had expected, it took about 2mins or so just to reach the start line from the gun. I think I'd like to enter this race again next year and would fully recommend it to anyone.

Race time: 1:41:36
Gun Time: 1:44:00 approx

Easter break

Just spent a fantastic weekend in the Lakes with the family, swimming, cycling and building snowmen. After eating all that easter chocolate today's run was as expected... it felt heavy, I've got a bit of a cough which I hope I can shake off before this weekends half marathon at Wilmslow.

Today's run: 5.87miles (47:30)

3 Bags of Sugar

Another 10k run home from work. Interestingly... I decided to weigh my back-pack. 6.5lbs! or 3 bags of sugar!
Try running 10k with 3 bags of sugar shoved in your pockets Winking

We all fall down!

Felt good today after a few weeks of feeling like crap. All was well when running my usual 10k from work when I suddenly stubbed my toe on a raised flag! In true commando style I found myself doing a forward roll... my back-pack acted like aerobic matt and cushioned my fall, I was quickly back on my feet and continued running. Apart from feeling like a prize banana no injuries were sustained. Winking

Moan moan moan moan moan...

I haven't written here for while because I've had a pretty poor month, I just didn't want to bore you all with my moans. My wisdom teeth have been playing up causing an abscess... I've had trouble with pain in my left heel and I'm just generally feeling run down, tired, bloated and unfit. I have a half marathon on the 30th and hoped to get another PB but now I think I'll just give myself a nice easy run and collect the medal afterwards Winking

A spot of bother

Something strange happened to me yesterday, I'm now off the antibiotics so I thought I'd ease myself back to running with a 5m jog. I felt slightly unfit but otherwise good, but as soon as I stopped... my skin became itchy and I had suddenly developed raised spots all over my body, exactly like mosquito bites! After a little research I've put it down to a mild case of Cholinergic Urticaria, which can be caused by a combination of antibiotics & exercise.

I'm having such a sh*t week with aches & pains. Back to my regular 10k runs from work tomorrow.

Pace, Distance & Time Calculator

Just added a calculator to help with my workouts, useful for calculating your pace when given a distance and time. It can also calculate distance or time when given the other variables.

Yes I know it's a bit geeky, but what does a web designer do now he can't run due to antibiotics! Winking I hope you find it useful.

No running for me Sad

I've been awake all night with a face the size of a football, luckily the swelling had gone down in the morning but I've just been diagnosed with having an abscess due to a dodgy wisdom tooth. I'm now on a course of antibiotics and have been advised not to run.... gutted Sad

I've only got about 3 weeks to go for the Wilmslow Half Marathon, this is gonna be interesting.

Liverpool Half Marathon

Today is a good day, my unofficial time came in at around 1hr 39min, which totally knocks the socks off my previous PB of 1hr 58min (Great North Run 2007).

I couldn't have wished for a better time, I'm so pleased... completely surprised myself. In fact, almost too good to be true... I'll post my official chip time once it's announced.
